Über

Mathias Munschauer begann als Student im Labor von Thomas Tuschl an der Rockefeller University (New York, USA) mit RNA und RNA-bindenden Proteinen zu arbeiten. Nach seiner Dissertation über das RNA-bindende Protein FMRP nahm er an einem internationalen PhD-Austauschprogramm des Max-Delbrück-Centrums für Molekulare Medizin in Berlin und der New York University teil. Im Labor von Markus Landthaler am Max-Delbrück-Centrum für Molekulare Medizin in Berlin leistete er Pionierarbeit bei der Entwicklung von Technologien zur Erfassung des mRNA-gebundenen Proteoms und zur Darstellung seines globalen Proteinbelegungsmusters auf proteincodierenden Transkripten. Als Postdoc am Labor von Eric Lander am Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard identifizierte er einen neuartigen lncRNA-abhängigen Topoisomerase-Komplex und identifizierte eine bisher unbekannte Funktion von lncRNAs. Im Juli 2019 kam er über das Helmholtz-Nachwuchsgruppenprogramm zum HIRI als Leiter einer unabhängigen Helmholtz-Nachwuchsgruppe.
