Würzburg Life Science Seminar: Irah King
We cordially invite you to the seminar by Irah King. The talk will take place in Building D15, room 01.002-004, at 5 pm.
Prof Irah King - “Immune control of tissue physiology promotes host defense against intestinal infection”
Current research in Prof King's lab focuses on the intestine (and other barrier tissues such as the skin and lungs) as an incredibly fascinating microenvironment because it faces the complex task of maintaining health while interacting directly with the outside world.
The primary goal of Prof. King’s research is to understand the factors that make a healthy gut. Using diverse experimental approaches, a major focus is to understand how immune cells communicate with their local environment to promote protective immune responses relevant to human disease such as intestinal helminth infection and inflammatory bowel disease. Models of infectious diseases, gnotobiology and intestinal organoid-based approaches are primarily used to understand how helminth infection and the gut microbiota shape intestinal immunity, physiology and host defense.
