Würzburg Life Science Seminar: Martin Jahn

03.06.2025 17:00 Helmholtz Institute Würzburg, Josef-Schneider-Str. 2/D15, 97080 Würzburg, Germany

We cordially invite you to the seminar by Martin Jahn. The talk will take place in Building D15, room 01.002-004, at 5 pm.

Dr Martin Jahn - “Mapping the gut microbiome: from spatial ecology to disease resistance”

Dr Jahn’s current Spatial Ecology of Pathogen Resistance (SpatialGut) project aims to generate a comprehensive single-cell map of gut microbiota in the context of infection resistance. This enables fundamental questions on how the spatial organization drives infection resistance to be addressed. The spatial microbiome organization is iteratively mapped and manipulated to assay its impact on colonization resistance against the pathogen model Salmonella enterica.

Dr Jahn’s lab has established HG23, a new humanized model, that now allows the mapping of entire microbiota at the single-cell level in relation to the host and invading pathogens.

Ultimately, this provides new basic insights guiding the rational design of beneficial microbial communities to improve infection resistance.
