Würzburg Life Science Seminar: Tamia Harris-Tryon
We cordially invite you to the seminar by Tamia Harris-Tryon. The talk will take place in Building D15, room 01.002-004, at 5 pm.
Dr Tamia Harris-Tryon - “Precision Imaging Tools for Multiscale Spatial Biology”
Dr Harris-Tryon’s lab investigates the role of the skin epithelium in immunity and host defense, focusing on how lipids, proteins, and small molecules contribute to skin protection. They have shown that immune system regulation controls sex steroid hormone synthesis in the skin and developed methods to quantify these hormones in skin secretions. The lab also explores the skin’s response to bacteria, including how lipid loss impacts the microbiome, and the role of sebaceous glands and keratinocytes in microbial defense. In addition, they study the regulation of androgens like testosterone and their effects on the skin barrier. The lab is also examining Staphylococcus aureus pathogenesis, focusing on how skin-secreted molecules influence its colonization and collaborating on novel virulence factors and metabolic pathways.
