Doctoral Thesis Successfully Defended
Frank Englert has completed his PhD
Frank Englert successfully defended his dissertation on July 29 on the topic “Molecular insights into phage-host interactions through bacterial defense and phage engineering.” During his undergraduate studies at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, he wrote his master’s thesis in the laboratory of HIRI department head Chase Beisel. In 2020, he joined Beisel’s group as a doctoral student to conduct research on novel bacterial anti-phage defense systems.
