Jens Hör is “Supervisor of the Year”
GSLS honors dedicated mentors
Supporting early-career researchers is a top priority at the Helmholtz Institute Würzburg (HIRI), and this commitment has once again been recognized: the Graduate School of Life Sciences (GSLS) at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) has named HIRI group leader Jens Hör “Supervisor of the Year”.
The award recognizes outstanding commitment to the supervision of doctoral researchers. PhD students in the life sciences and human medicine nominated a total of 17 supervisors. Based on the submitted nominations, four awardees were selected. In addition to Jens Hör, who received first place, Zoltan Nagy, Karl Petri, and Mona Garvert were also honored.

For the HIRI, this marks the second consecutive year of recognition: last year, Alexander Westermann, a researcher affiliated with the institute, was among the first recipients of the newly established award.
The “Supervisor of the Year Awards” were presented during the “Graduate Schools Day”. Caroline Kisker, JMU Vice President for Research and Academic Career Development, handed out the awards.
