Dr Afsaneh Khani

Afsaneh Khani received her PhD in Microbiology from the Rostock university (Germany) at the Institute of Medicine Microbiology, Virology and Hygiene (IMIKRO). She worked on the mechanism of a putative glycine riboswitch in Streptococcus pyogenes. Afterward she continued her research as a postdoc at the same institute, investigating the gene expression profile of Streptococcus pyogenes under different growth conditions. She joined the Vogel lab in 2020, developing a new generation of programmable antibiotics to manipulate the microbiota using RNA-directed antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs).
