Dr Srinivas Manchalu
Srinivas completed his PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Tübingen in January 2020. His doctoral research was focused on characterization of a RNA-binding protein Bfr1p in translational regulation at the ER in S.cerevisiae. Srinivas holds a bachelor’s degree in Genetic Engineering from SRM University, India and a master’s degree in RNA biology from University of Lorraine, France.Srinivas has gathered diversified research experiences during his studies by undertaking several internships abroad (Germany, Brazil and France). He joined the Beisel lab in February 2020 as a Postdoctoral researcher and his current research focuses on developing countermeasures to CRISPR-based gene drives primarily in yeast. Outside of the lab, Srinivas enjoys spending his time traveling, cooking and playing pool with friends.
