Elena Vialetto

Elena obtained her master degree in Industrial Biotechnology at the University of Padova in July 2018. During this time, she did her thesis work at the University of Würzburg, where she characterized the 3D microenvironment of the mouse lung through light sheet fluorescence microscopy to uncover the immune response to infection by Aspergillus fumigatus. She decided to stay in the same city for her PhD in the Beisel lab, where she is advancing CRISPR-Cas systems as antimicrobials against the pathogen Klebsiella pneumoniae. During her free time, Elena enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking or running, and she likes theater and new culinary experiences.
