Elise Bornet

Elise Bornet obtained her MSc in Biotechnology and High Throughput Data Analysis at the École Supérieure de Biotechnologie de Strasbourg (France) in 2019. She carried out her thesis work at New England Biolabs in Ipswich, Massachusetts (USA) characterizing novel Cas9 proteins. In 2020, she joined the Westermann lab as PhD student within the HIRI Graduate Program “RNA & Infection”. Her PhD project aims at applying single-cell RNA sequencing to bacteria to study the heterogeneity in gene expression of the anaerobic gut commensal Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron during homeostasis and enteric infection.
