Hao Yang Lay

Hao Yang Lay obtained his MSc in “Molecular and Cellular Biology” from Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. During his master’s thesis at Helmholtz Munich, he focused on viral-host protein-protein interactions. In May 2026, he joined the lab of Camilla Ciolli Mattioli as a doctoral student, where he will study antibiotic persistence in intracellular pathogens using a single-cell transcriptomics approach. In his free time, he enjoys playing sports like volleyball and ultimate frisbee. He also likes learning about different cultures, their food and languages.
