Würzburg Life Science Seminar: Gene-Wei Li
We cordially invite you to Gene-Wei Li's talk "Runaway transcription and its genome-wide impact". The talk will take place in Building D15, room 01.002-004, at 5 pm.
Prof Gene-Wei Li - "Runaway transcription and its genome-wide impact"
The Li lab uses bacteria as a model to decipher the principles underlying the precise control of gene expression, combining technical development of quantitative measurements, genomics analysis, biophysical modeling, and synthetic biology. In the classic view of bacterial gene expression, transcription, and translation are tightly coupled into a signal-integration hub important for regulation. The Li lab recently reported a second paradigm of bacterial gene expression – runaway transcription – that gives rise to uncoupled transcription-translation in many bacterial clades. His talk will focus on the wide-ranging impacts of runaway transcription on gene regulation, mRNA quality control, evolutionary dynamics, and genome composition.
