We cordially invite you to the seminar by Katharina Markmann, “Systemic control of symbiotic competence through mobile microRNAs”. The talk will take place in Building D15, room 01.002-004, at 5 pm.
Prof Katharina Markmann - “Systemic control of symbiotic competence through mobile microRNAs”
The current research of the Markmann lab focuses on the role of small RNAs in the regulation of root nodulation symbiosis. Most legumes engage in mutualistic endosymbiosis with nitrogen-fixing rhizobial bacteria, an interaction that needs to be tightly controlled to balance bacterial infection and nodulation. Apart from symbiosis, the group is also interested in understanding roles of mobile small RNAs in developmental processes, such as the control of root growth and its adaptation to biotic and abiotic environmental cues.
