Prof Markus Gerhard - “Helicobacter pylori, microbiome, gastric cancer and beyond – time for another paradigm shift?”
Markus Gerhard’s research focuses on the development of prophylactic, in addition to therapeutic measures, to tackle the rising threat of antimicrobial resistance amongst Heliobacter strains and to improve the clinical management and treatment of H. pylori infections. By simultaneously employing novel surface proteins as potential vaccine candidates, as well as investigating a potential RNA vaccine as an alternative, his team intents to compare and combine these prophylactic strategies.
