Nils Walter - "Bacterial Riboswitches are Finely Balanced Fulcrums Integrating Signals for Robust Transcription Regulation"

Nils Walter’s research is highly interdisciplinary and the lab combines state-of-the-art biochemical, molecular biology, and biophysical approaches. For instance, they investigate functionally active and inactive conformations of single ncRNA molecules using single-molecule imaging. They also utilize this technique to follow the movement of the ribosome on a secondary structured mRNA, including riboswitch motifs that utilize an aptamer domain to recognize a specific ligand and affect downstream gene expression.
