Würzburg Life Science Seminar: Rafael Pinilla Redondo

Rafael Pinilla Redondo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Copenhagen. His group investigates the interplay between mobile genetic elements such as bacteriophages and conjugative plasmids and their bacterial hosts. He has primarily focused on CRISPR-Cas immune systems in bacteria and countermeasures encoded by bacteriophages, although he has branched out to the many other known defenses and counter-defenses in this long-running arms race.
