Würzburg Life Science Seminar (Special): Itai Yanai

17.10.2024 15:00 Helmholtz Institute Würzburg, Josef-Schneider-Str. 2/D15, 97080 Würzburg, Germany

We cordially invite you to the seminar by Itai Yanai, “Single-bacterium RNA-Seq reveals principles of genome regulation”. The talk will take place in Building D15, room 01.002-006, at 5 pm.

Prof Itai Yanai - “Single-bacterium RNA-Seq reveals principles of genome regulation”

Itai Yanai is professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the New York University and Founding Director of the Institute for Computational Medicine at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. His research focuses on biological processes through the lens of global gene expression. Important methods have been published by his lab, such as CEL-Seq, one of the first approaches for single-cell transcriptomics, and scDual-Seq to simultaneously analyze transcriptomes of host and intracellular bacteria at the single-cell level. He also pioneered the integration of spatial transcriptomics with single-cell technology to create tumor maps. He has written a series on the creative side of the scientific process, which is called "Night Science" in reference to François Jacob. Yanai also co-hosts a popular podcast with the same name.
