We cordially invite you to the seminar by Susanne Herold, “Immune mechanisms in lung repair after severe infection – towards host-directed therapies”. The talk will take place in Building D15, room 01.002-004, at 5 pm.

Prof Susanne Herold - “Immune mechanisms in lung repair after severe infection – towards host-directed therapies”

Prof. Herold is an expert on pulmonary infection. Her research is aimed at understanding the mechanisms driving anti-viral host defense as well as dissecting the cellular and molecular contributors to the tissue damage at the virus-host interface in the distal lung, and defining pathways and mediators of organ regeneration in the context of viral infection. Her research is particularly focused on the interaction of macrophages with parenchymal cells of the distal lung and the epithelial stem cell niche. In addition, she studies mechanisms that lead to increased susceptibility to bacterial infections during viral pneumonia or acid aspiration with a focus on alveolar macrophages.
