Dr Takeshi Kanda

Takeshi Kanda obtained his PhD in engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan) in March 2021, where he studied gene expression mechanisms underlying bacterial acid stress responses. He then joined the University of Tsukuba (Japan) as a postdoc to investigate bacterial small RNAs. In April 2025, he joined the Westermann lab to explore how Salmonella tolerates acid stress during infection, focusing on the role of sRNAs in response to short-chain fatty acids produced by gut commensals.
