About

Laura Cecchino successfully obtained her MSc from the University of Würzburg, with a focus on microbiology and bioinformatics. In September 2023, she embarked on her journey as a PhD student in Emmanuel Saliba's lab within the framework of the DFG’s priority program SPP2389. Her research project centers around the implementation of a spatial transcriptomics approach for bacterial cells, utilizing multiplexed fluorescence in situ hybridization. With this technique, she aims to investigate the microcolonies formed by enteropathogenic E. coli on the epithelium of the small intestine at single-cell resolution. Beyond her passion for science, Laura likes cooking and engaging in powerlifting.
