Dr Paramita Sarkar

About

Paramita Sarkar obtained her PhD from the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (Jakkur, India) in August 2021. During her PhD, she combined organic chemistry and microbiology to find solutions to antibiotic resistance. She developed derivatives of classical antibiotics against vancomycin resistant bacteria and investigated their mechanisms of action to gain insights for improved drug designs. In the Vogel lab, Paramita is exploring the use of antisense oligomers as programmable tools for targeted regulation of gene expression in bacteria.
