New Year's Reception 2024

The New Year's Reception of the Helmholtz Institute Würzburg took place on January 24, 2024, in the foyer of Building D15 on the Medical Campus. In the presence of his team and representatives from science and politics, HIRI director Jörg Vogel reviewed the past year, 2023, and ventured a look into the coming year.

Group leaders Franziska Faber, Alexander Westermann, and Mathias Munschauer, all newly appointed professors, gave brief reviews of their time at the HIRI so far. One consensus was unmistakable: The institute offers optimal conditions for excellent research.

However, it was not only the research at HIRI that was praised, but also the respectful interaction within the team. HIRI regularly presents the HIRI Spirit Award to recognize individuals who are particularly committed to the HIRI spirit. Scientific coordinator Tim Schnyder is the recipient of the 2022 award, and PhD student Katharina Wandera received the 2023 award.

After the presentations, the guests had the opportunity to network and exchange ideas, accompanied by music from Jean-Loup Eberhardt on saxophone and Simon Eingang on guitar.
