Dr Orian Gilmer

Orian Gilmer obtained his PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Strasbourg (France) in November 2022. During his PhD, he investigated the structure of the 5´ untranslated region of HIV-1 genomic RNA and the conformational changes induced by viral protein binding. In September 2023, he joined the Caliskan lab as a postdoctoral researcher. His current research focuses on studying the conformational heterogeneity of the HIV-1 frameshift element using single-molecule and chemical probing techniques. Outside of work, he enjoys playing board games, reading, and cooking.
