Dr Tobias Kerrinnes
Tobias obtained his PhD at the Robert Koch Institute in Wernigerode and Technical University of Braunschweig investigating the regulatory networks and protein-protein interactions which allow bacterial pathogens to control their disease-causing properties. Since the establishment of an infection is also determined by the properties of the host, he dedicated his postdoctoral phase at the School of Medicine of the University of California at Davis to the investigation of the molecular mechanisms that determine the interaction between chronic pathogens and the human immune system. As head of the laboratory of the Department of Epidemiology at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Biology he developed tools and applications which bridge molecular laboratory research and infection epidemiology. Since September 2019, he bundles his expertise in applied infection research and molecular science as lab coordinator of the Vogel group.
