Marco Antonio Olguín Nava

Marco obtained his MSc in Biochemistry at the National Autonomous University of Mexico UNAM (Mexico) in 2019. During his MSc, he studied the host-rotavirus interactions about immune innate response and viral translation. Besides his background in virology, Marco worked in pharmaceutical industry in quality and research. After an internship at Heidelberg University working on alternative mechanisms of translation of flavivirus, he joined the HIRI’s Graduate training program in June 2020. He is currently working under the supervision of Redmond Smyth to investigate RNA-based regulation of the interferon immune response during SARS-CoV-2 infection.
