The Single-Cell Center Würzburg is a joint competence center of the Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research (HIRI) with the Faculty of Medicine of the Julius-Maximilians-Universität (JMU), the University Hospital Würzburg (UKW), and the Max Planck Research Group at the Würzburg Institute of Systems Immunology (WüSI).
Working as a collaborative hub, the center’s objective is to analyze and understand diseases at the level of individual cells. In the future, this will enable the earliest possible and most reliable prediction of a disease and how it can be treated in the best possible way.
The Single-Cell Center Würzburg received funding from the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research (IZKF). Its goal is to combine scientific, clinical and methodological expertise in Würzburg. In the medium run, the competence center is intended to develop into a strong service unit with the participation of the JMU and the UKW.
