Alexander Westermann is “Supervisor of the Year”
GSLS honors dedicated mentors
The Helmholtz Institute Würzburg (HIRI) is particularly committed to supporting young researchers— and that dedication is paying off. Recently, Alexander Westermann, a scientist affiliated with HIRI, has been recognized as one of the “Supervisors of the Year” by the University of Würzburg's Graduate School of Life Sciences (GSLS).
Westermann earned second place in the ranking, following Gabriele Büchel from the Chair of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, who secured the top spot. Third place was shared by Carmen Villmann from the Institute of Clinical Neurobiology and Matthias Gamer from the Chair of Psychology I.
Doctoral candidates from both the natural sciences and human medicine were invited to nominate mentors for the “Supervisor of the Year Award”. The winners were then selected by student vote.
This marks the first time the award has been presented. The ceremony took place during “Graduate Schools Day”.
