Promoting Science and Collaboration

EMBO Sectoral Meeting on RNA and Structural Biology in Würzburg

From April 14 to 16, a sectoral meeting of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) took place at the Helmholtz Institute Würzburg (HIRI), attracting 25 international guests to the Medical Campus. The event, which focused on RNA and structural biology, was organized by HIRI group leader and EMBO Young Investigator Emmanuel Saliba.

After the opening address by Emmanuel Saliba, the participating researchers presented 18 additional short talks over the next three days. Furthermore, several lab members, including HIRI PhD student Chia-Ling Chou, shared their research.

A particular highlight of the event was the keynote lecture by HIRI director Jörg Vogel on the second day of the conference, which was followed by a discussion on the future of RNA-based therapeutics.

Sectoral meetings are initiated and organized by members of the EMBO Young Investigator Network to foster exchange and collaboration between researchers in related fields. The event featured a varied program of informative talks and lively discussions. Numerous opportunities for personal exchange, for example during breaks or at joint dinners, rounded off the meeting.
