Summer Retreat in Munich
RNAmed graduate program picks up speed
The meeting started on 25th of July at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich with the attendance of a symposium titled “New frontier in chemical biology” organized by CNATM (Cluster for Nucleic Acid Therapeutics Munich). Eminent researchers from Germany and various parts of the world like USA, Israel and England, who are working in diverse aspects of nucleic acid therapeutics, presented their findings. Prof. Benjamin List (Nobel Prize 2021) also attended the meeting and explained his ideas regarding universal catalysts for our world.
The next day was time for the kick-off retreat: It was the first RNAmed meeting in such a large group, as almost allPhD students and their supervisors met to introduce themselves, their projects and networks to the other members of the program. It was followed by an open discussion on the upcoming agendas of the group, in which many basic and important issues were launched. A poster session was scheduled in the afternoon, attended by PhD students and their supervisors, which was a great opportunity to discuss the progress of the individual projects between the RNAmed community.
At the end of a very busy and action-packed day, the group came together in an original Munich beer garden to chat in a relaxed atmosphere in the evening.
The retreat concluded in the morning next day with everyone discussing on the issues raised the day before. Various opinions were summarized to finalize urgent steps and elements that enable us PhD students to help shape the future of RNAmed. The retreat proved to be a great opportunity for members of the program to work together.
