Microbiology 2023 attracts numerous scientists to Würzburg

From September 20 to 22, the Interacademy Conference “Microbiology 2023: from single cell to microbiome and host” took place on the Würzburg Medical Campus. The event attracted around 250 guests from all over the world to the dynamic university city.

Pascale Cossart, David Holden, Staffan Normark, Jörg Hacker, and Jörg Vogel opened the conference on behalf of the Académie des sciences (France), the Royal Society (UK), the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (Sweden), and the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina (Germany).

In addition to 20 talks by renowned microbiologists, conference attendees were able to enjoy exciting poster presentations, an editor session and a panel discussion. Further networking opportunities were provided at the conference dinner, which was held in the historic wine cellar of the Würzburg Residence.

The event was hosted by the Institute for Molecular Infection Biology (IMIB) of the University of Würzburg (JMU) and supported by the Helmholtz Institute Würzburg and the Krupp Foundation.
