New @ HIRI: Alexander Gabel

The HIRI family warmly welcomes Alexander Gabel!

Prior to arriving in Würzburg, Alex did his undergraduate and graduate research at the University of Halle. During this time, he combined methods from machine learning and statistics to analyze multiomics data. He also worked on the annotation of novel long non-coding RNAs in flowering plants based on RNA sequencing data.

At the HIRI, he just joined the Munschauer lab as a computational postdoctoral researcher, where he will develop and apply computational methods to analyze and integrate transcriptomic and proteomic data. He aims to improve the understanding of RNA-binding proteins and their functions at the virus-host interface.
