Constantinos Patinios, also known as Costas, earned his BSc in Biology from Bath University in the United Kingdom and his MSc in Plant Biotechnology from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. He joined the PhD program at Wageningen University to work in Prof John van der Oost's group. As part of his PhD work, he developed universal CRISPR genome engineering tools for mesophilic prokaryotic microorganisms and applied these tools for metabolic engineering.
At HIRI, he is now starting his work as a postdoctoral researcher in the Beisel lab, where he will be working on advancing CRISPR-based diagnostics toward commercialization.
