In the name of the gene scissors
CRISPR 2023 attracts numerous scientists to Würzburg
Last week, the Helmholtz Institute Würzburg (HIRI) was all about the gene scissors. From June 27 to July 1, the international CRISPR 2023 conference took place there, attracting around 300 CRISPR enthusiasts from all over the world.
The conference was opened by Chase Beisel, department head at the HIRI, and Cynthia Sharma, Chair of Molecular Infection Biology II at the University of Würzburg, who organized the event together with Anita Marchfelder, Group Leader at Ulm University, and Stan Brouns, Group Leader at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. VirginijusŠikšnys, a professor at Vilnius University in Lithuania, gave the keynote lecture. Numerous exciting talks, poster presentations, and leisure activities followed. The conference concluded with an adventure day in Würzburg, including a guided tour of the city and a visit to the local fair.
