Doctoral defense by Gianluca Prezza on “Transcriptomic and genomic approaches to explore the RNA biology of the gut symbiont Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron”

On June 10, Gianluca Prezza successfully defended his doctoral dissertation. Gianluca joined the HIRI in 2018 and conducted his doctoral project in the Host-Pathogen-Microbiota Interactions research group under the supervision of principal investigator Alexander Westermann. As part of his PhD studies, he worked on establishing CRISPR-based techniques to functionally study Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron small RNAs at the host-microbe interface.

Congratulations, Gianluca!
