New track record for the “D15 Bikers”

Team from the IMIB, RVZ, and HIRI collected 6,747 kilometers in three weeks

The 28 active cyclists of the “D15 Bikers” team, a subgroup of the University of Würzburg, cycled a total of 6,747 kilometers during this year's “Stadtradeln”. In doing so, they set a new record and saved a significant amount of carbon dioxide: if they had driven the same distance, they would theoretically have released more than 1,120 kilograms of the greenhouse gas.

The team consists of cyclists from the Institute for Molecular Infection Biology (IMIB), the Rudolf Virchow Center (RVZ), and the Helmholtz Institute Würzburg (HIRI). These three institutions are jointly housed in building D15 on the Würzburg Medical Campus, which is the origin of the team's name. Among the teams from the University of Würzburg, the “D15 Bikers” rode the most kilometers. As a result, they contributed significantly to the University of Würzburg's strong performance in the overall ranking, achieving eighth place in the whole of Würzburg.

Sylke Kieliba from HIRI was particularly active with 735 kilometers and successfully defended her title as “TOP Biker of the Year” from last year. She was closely followed by Lina Günter, also from HIRI, who took second place with 698 kilometers. Liane Dreher from IMIB took bronze with 485 kilometers.

A big thank you to all the dedicated cyclists and to Petra Thomas from IMIB, who organizes the competition every year.
