On July 8, 2021, members of the SPD parliamentary group in the German Bundestag gained an overview of cutting-edge research at Würzburg. At HIRI, René Röspel, who is also a member of the Senate of the Helmholtz Association, and research policy spokesman Oliver Kaczmarek were briefed by group leader Chase Beisel and head of administration Alice Hohn on the institute's main research areas and the planned new HIRI building.
During a tour of the laboratories, the guests learned more about state-of-the-art procedures in the field of single-cell sequencing, and they received first-hand information about current findings on SARS-CoV-2. The MPs were enthusiastic about HIRI's research successes, including LEOPARD – a new technology that has the potential to revolutionize medical diagnostics not only of Covid-19, but also of tuberculosis, sepsis or rare genetic diseases.
