Successful disputation in the graduate program “RNA & Infection”

Marco Antonio Olguín Nava defended his dissertation

On June 6, Marco Antonio Olguín Nava successfully defended his doctoral dissertation, becoming the second graduate of the “RNA & Infection” graduate program at the Helmholtz Institute Würzburg (HIRI). The program inspires and challenges doctoral students to develop into independent scientists at the interface of ribonucleic acid (RNA) and infection biology.

After completing his MSc in Biochemistry at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City, Marco joined the HIRI in 2020. Following rotations through three research groups, he joined the lab of Redmond Smyth. In the Smyth group, his research focused on the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
