Graduate Program “RNA & Infection”: Doctoral thesis successfully defended

Elise Bornet has completed her PhD studies

On December 18, Elise Bornet successfully defended her doctoral thesis. She completed her master's degree in Biotechnology and High-Throughput Data Analysis at the École Supérieure de Biotechnologie de Strasbourg in France in 2019. In 2020, she joined the Helmholtz Institute Würzburg (HIRI) as part of the graduate program “RNA & Infection”.

As a member of Alexander Westermann's research group “Host-Pathogen-Microbiota Interactions”, she devoted her PhD project to applying single-cell RNA sequencing to bacteria to study the heterogeneity in gene expression of the anaerobic gut commensal Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron during homeostasis and enteric infection.

Congratulations, Elise!
