Successful defense at the Helmholtz Institute Würzburg

Shazeb Ahmad has completed his doctorate

Shazeb Ahmad successfully defended his doctoral thesis on December 19. He received his MSc in 2020 through the FOKUS Life Science fast track program at the University of Würzburg. As part of his thesis, he developed Expansion microscopy protocols to visualize blood platelets. Subsequently, he joined the Smyth Laboratory as a doctoral student, where he used advanced imaging technologies to understand the evolution of RNA virus genomes.

Since October 2025, he has been a postdoc in Jens Hör's laboratory, “Molecular Principles of RNA Phages”.
