On May 19, Harris Bassett successfully defended his doctoral dissertation. He joined the Helmholtz Institute Würzburg (HIRI) in 2021, where he began his doctoral project, “Harnessing a DNA ADP-ribosyltransferase for gene editing in E. coli,” under the supervision of department head Chase Beisel.
Previously, he earned his bachelor's degree in biochemistry at North Carolina State University and his master's degree in biomedical engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, both in the United States. He then worked in the biopharmaceutical industry for several years.
Congratulations, Harris!
