City Cycling 2026: “D15 Bikers” Once Again Best Sub-Team of the University of Würzburg
Cyclists from HIRI, IMIB, and RVZ accumulated a total of 7,865 kilometers
The “D15 Bikers” once again achieved the best result among all University of Würzburg teams participating in City Cycling 2026. From May 1 to 21, the 34 team members covered a total of 7,865 kilometers by bike. The international campaign encourages people to cycle as much as possible during a 21-day period and promotes sustainable, climate-friendly mobility.
This year’s top rider was Johannes Kullmann from Cynthia Sharma’s lab. With 1,302 kilometers, he not only ranked first within the “D15 Bikers” team but also recorded the highest mileage among all participants from the University of Würzburg. Jonathan Scheler from Franziska Faber’s group came second in the team ranking with 865 kilometers, followed by Tristan Beste from Emmanuel Saliba’s lab in third place with 626 kilometers.
The “D15 Bikers” team brings together staff members from the Helmholtz Institute Würzburg (HIRI), the Institute of Molecular Infection Biology (IMIB), and the Rudolf Virchow Center (RVZ). The team’s name refers to Building D15, which houses all three institutions.
